It very softly, whispers 'hello'
The way the wind blows, it makes my heart glow
And fills my body with jello
The mirror looks slowly at the carpet, he asks,
“How do you like it, always getting stepped on?”
The carpet answers with a chuckle,
“How do you like getting stared at?”
The coat rack greets me, the way he treats me
You'd think I asked for special treatment
His friend the doorbell, he keeps the floor well
He seems to know the neighbors all too well
I stumble slowly towards the closet, he says,
“Go to the kitchen if you need a fixin’”
The kitchen isn’t quite so friendly
All of the food wants to eat me
Drop my bags on the floor
I’m running out the door
The doorbell yells,
“Don’t come 'round here no more”
The world that people see
They see it through a lens
How they interpret it, well that depends
Some people find it strange
Some people find it sad
I’ve just been grateful for this life I've had
And after all of the chaos
Some things are found, some things stay lost
And everything returns to normal
But you’ll never know who rang the doorbell
